The slow but sure shift in computing from desktop microcomputers to laptops and computers that are more portable is noteworthy. Since 1997, I have been using a desktop PC and always wanted the PC to be close to me so that I can use it in leisure, while sitting on a couch or on even while lying on my bed. This has is possible only when you have a laptop.

Compaq Presario C505TU is the first the laptop that I purchased, it was not the most advanced configuration but it was enough for my computing needs which were limited to emails, regular blogging, chats, managing documents and doing some serious work related to my product management work.

The configuration of the laptop consists of Intel Pentium Dual Core processor with 1.76 GHz speed, 80 GB SATA hard drive, 512 DDR2 RAM, 8XDVD/CDRW, 15-x wide display, standard graphics card with 3 USB ports and an inbuilt modem. Packed in a sturdy silver colored cabinet is not stylish but gives sober and simple look. The speed and the efficiency related to heat management are nearly perfect with this machine.

Only thing, which HP could have improved, would have been by providing a 9-cell lithium battery for more backup instead of 6-cell lithium battery. The other problem was that laptop came pre-loaded with Free DOS (useless thing). However, you need to buy or download the OS with respect to your requirement; it also did not have any driver CD. All in some cost cutting to provide affordable laptop for people like me.

I would rate this laptop 4 out 5 in terms of performance. In terms of value addition with respect to price, 3 out of 5 and 2 out of 5 in terms deliverables and accessories provided with the laptop. Definitely, this would not be the best laptop some can have but it is much better then similarly priced local Indian branded laptops.

My first digital camera, apart from computers would be the first electronic device for which I am writing a review. Sony DSC W110 is perfect for an entry level point and shoot camera requirements.

Built to astonish, DSC-W110 possess a 4x optical zoom lens for high quality close-ups and 2x digital zoom. Featuring 7.2 mega pixel resolution, innovative Smile Shutters, Face Detection and a bright, 2.5″ LCD screen for reviewing photos with ease.

Face Detection Technology for Children and Adults

This is the best tool in recent times for me, this has removed so much hassles of daily activity of fiddling with Google, unlike other tools it does not start doing automatic calls to Google, avoiding your IP to be banned by Google.

Once installed as an add on with Firefox, you just have to search in through Google and there you go!, all Google results would be having options below to each result.

Check PR, age of the domain, Yahoo back links, Yahoo .edu links, Whois, compete.com ranking, MSN links etc.

The results are on request, so you need to click each option to get result, this way you would not be banned from Google.

It also helps in finding do-follow and no-follow links, as it displays ‘no follow” links on every page you visit. You may do a complete check on a domain for all the options.

This tool is must have for all the webmasters.

Many webmasters are working day and night for finding correct back links for their websites. We all know the importance of thematic linking. “.edu” web pages are considered to be the best source of back links for any website to perform on google.

I tried many tools and utilities but couldn’t succeed, it is same as finding do-follow blogs to comment for getting nice back links.

Google search itself has nice collections of advance options to perform domain specific search.

- Open google.com and select ‘advance search option’

- In “Find web pages that have…” option further select “all these words” and type your keywords like this “blog, technology”

- Further in “search within a site or domain type “.edu”

- You would locate an option with “date, number etc. with a + sign, click on this option to expand, and you can set your search to be specific for a region or a country, like finding .edu websites with the above mentioned keywords in United States.

- Hit the “advance search button” and in google search, it would appear like this “blog, technology site:.edu”

That is it, you would get loads of results, for the above mentioned keyword search, google resulted me 100,000 webpages. Finding the right blog for commenting or for a link exchange should not be a problem.

For finding more pages with different keywords simply, change the key words and type in the same shortcut method in google to search, for e.g. ‘personal, blog site:.edu”

Frankly this has worked for me, not for this blog but other blog which I have been pushing very hard.

When started my new blog with wordpress it was totally a new experience. Wordpress had lot of plugins to offer as compared to b2evolution which seems to be more towards work flow management.

I tried searching on google for any famous plugin that can allow me to add analytics code to this wordpress blog. I found semiologic-dot-com/software/google-analytics/ and when tried, could not find any analytics codes within my home page source.

I followed the instructions again to check whether I was wrong somewhere, in the last two lines of instructions it was written

If it said Tracking Not Installed, click on Check Status. Google then checks your blog for the Analytics Code Block and reports back if it find it or not.

If not, try re-adding the Google Analytics Code Block.

Well if it is not able to add in first instance, how would it be able to add it later on. It seems they are creating fake plug ins for just publicity or may be the .php script has lot of bugs.

The simpler way to add the code

Log in to your control panel, go to “Presentation” and select theme editor and open footer.php (make sure your footer.php has 777 rights enabled) and add the google analytics code just before </body> and check the status. If it doesn’t works try adding the “ga.js” code and retry again.

If your domain doesn’t have a 301 redirect, your url would be without “www”, make sure you have entered the correct url in google analytics.

Surely It will work.

Snapbomb gives some extra money for writing for something, which may include reviews, articles etc. This adds some buzz for the advertiser and you will get some extra revenue from blog marketing.

You would need to write posts and put them on your blog, which would include a link to the subject you are writing for. Finding opportunity is quite simple, once you signup with the website, you can simply login to seek opportunity which suits your blog or blog category.

The advertisers, who are looking to get valuable feedback for their products, want bloggers to write reviews for them, by running Blog campaigns. This feedback mechanism helps advertisers, as if the review has positive feedbacks it brings sale to them, else if it is negative still they earn because they have a genuine feedback and a cause for improvement.

You need not await a miracle to get listed in Google within a day, yes it is true, read more to find out.

To begin, we need to understand what does it mean by the term “getting indexed”, type the url of your website in Google for e.g. www.mysite.com, and if you see your website in search results it means your website has been indexed in Google, if not you need to get it indexed inside Google and that is what we are talking about here in this post.

Never try and use google’s website submission, as it tales 3-4 weeks for getting indexed in google by this method.

The best approach begins with finding websites getting higher ranks on the keywords related to your website, for e.g. if you are having a website which suggests names for your pets, the top most keyword for you should be “Pet names”, list down all top websites having more then 4 PR (Google Page Rank). It is very easy to find PR of a website, visit toolbar.google.com and download the tool bar for your browser.

Visit all the websites and check their home pages and send emails to the website owners (webmasters) and request them for a link exchange, it is difficult but you should write email which might convince them. Websites having more then 6PR should be difficult to convince, but websites with lower PR might agree for a link exchange.

Never concentrate on buying links as that is the easier way for getting link exchange, but google now penalizes such sites (both who sells and buys links).

Once you have succeeded in getting link exchanges, you should get listed in a day.

Now that you’re in google’s index, you can start giving attention to increase your page rank.

Three years ago when I installed JVC car audio cassette player in my car, it was more then enough for me. I was able to play audio cassettes and also could listen to FM and the sound quality with SONY speakers was excellent.

But gradually when I started using my MP3 player at home, i started feeling for it when i was driving long distances and carrying it always on ears was painful.

I started looking for something which could allow me to connect my MP3 player to this car audio cassette player. I started searching for items on internet and found something exceptional on Ebay.

It was Portable VCD/MP3/CD/MD Adapter kit, thanks to the people of China and the guy who imported this device, it was available for less than $5.

Here is an image of the kit

I ordered the product and got it within three days, it came with an empty cassette and a cable coming out of the cassette. I just had to connect the cable to my MP3 player and that’s it I could play all my mp3 songs.

Fortunately, we can struggle back in ways that will actually cut down significantly on the amount of spam we receive on a daily basis.

Recommended tips

Never Respond

Much of the spam you receive contains an “unsubscribe” link saying something like “To unsubscribe, click here.” Never Ever click that link.

Clicking confirms spammers “You are alive!”

Use Mailwasher

Get a program like “Mailwasher” from Mailwasher.net that allows you to view the email you receive before you download it.

The program makes it simple to delete dozens of emails, including viruses, before they reach your computer.

Use Your Filters

Your email program most likely contains filters you can use to weed out emails containing the usual spam words like “opportunity, $$$, sex, viagra” and a host of others.

You can set the filters to delete messages containing these words before ever downloading them to your computer.

Use An “Assassin”

Spam “killer” services offer users high-powered filtering, often requiring a sender to prove their identity before an email gets sent to the recipient.

One such service, SpamArrest.com, forces email senders to go to a website and type in a random word before their email gets delivered. This service has gained a lot of popularity lately and seems reasonably effective.

Use a Temporary Email

Maintain a public and private email address and never give your private email to anyone other than family and friends.
